More than 3,000 residents in Kirinyaga County benefited from a medical camp hosted by the M-PESA Foundation in partnership with Zuri Health and Lion SightFirst Eye Hospital at Thiba North Grounds in Mwea.

The Foundation also distributed 50 mama packs at Kimbimbi Sub County Hospital containing essentials for mothers and babies at the hospital as part of its efforts to enhance maternal and child health.

M-PESA Foundation held its first camp in Lamu County in May last year and has held camps in Nairobi, Kakamega, Mombasa, Meru, Kisumu, Trans Nzoia, Narok, Nyandarua, Garissa and Machakos counties. In Kirinyaga, about 30 people benefitted from free one-year NHIF memberships, where they can access further medical services.

“As we successfully hold our 12th free medical camp, we have impacted thousands of lives as we continue to realise our purpose of transforming lives and taking healthcare services closer to the people, with a focus on non-communicable diseases, reproductive health advice and general health consultations,” said Nicholas Nganga, Chairman, M-PESA Foundation.

Among the medical services provided at the camp were general consultations, cervical and breast cancer screening, fistula screening, general doctor consultations, diabetes screening, hypertension monitoring and child health consultations.

Zuri Health provides technology solutions by offering patients who attend the medical camps free follow-up consultations with doctors via SMS and WhatsApp for up to six months.
