“Over the last two decades, Safaricom has continued to support and transform the lives of various sportsmen and women in the country. Through events that we continue to sponsor such as the Safaricom Athletics Series, Lewa Marathon, BLAZE eSports and Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom, we have seen that sports have the potential to build cohesion among Kenyans in addition to nurturing talent”, said Peter Ndegwa, CEO, Safaricom.

“We are particularly proud of the transformation witnessed among our youth as a result of investments we have made in various sports disciplines”, said Ndegwa.

Safaricom has invested over KES 1 billion in sports over the years ranging from football, athletics, motorsport, E-Sports and rugby to golf and charity runs. This year alone the company has spent over KES 100 million supporting various events including the WRC Safari Rally, Kenya’s teams to the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics as well as The World Athletics Under 20 Championships held recently in Nairobi.
