Safaricom Opens New Retail Shop in Nyahururu Town
Safaricom (NSE: SCOM) has today opened its 47th retail shop in Nyahururu town as it seeks to deliver on its promise to ease customer access to products and services in its ongoing retail expansion plan.
The new retail outlet brings to seven the number of Safaricom shops in Rift Region and will be located at Polaris Arcade Building, in Nyahururu’s Central Business District.
“As we open this retail shop today, we are happy to fulfil one of the promises to our customers to deliver on convenience and access to our products and services as we increase our channels of interactions with them. We hope that we will now be able to serve our customers much better and they can have an opportunity to enjoy great customer experience like other customers in other regions,” said James Maitai, Head of Department, Rift Region, Safaricom.
The opening of the retail outlets comes as a relief for customers in Nyahururu and its environs as they had to travel long distances to Nakuru or Naivasha to access basic Safaricom services and even buy genuine devices. The shop is also expected to serve customers from the neighboring Nyandarua, Samburu and parts of Laikipia Counties.
Customers will also continue to access services such as PIN/PUK, SIM Swaps, SIM registration, M-PESA, Postpaid Services and internet settings on their smartphones and tablets across the 24 Care Desks that are already in operation in various towns across the Region.
The opening of the retail outlet is part of Safaricom’s retail expansion strategy as it seeks to increase its customer touch points. The Telco is also on an aggressive roll out of 4G network across the country with over seven Counties already connected to 4G and over 1,450 sites already set up.
The company is also increasing its 3G network sites which are currently above 3,900. To complement this, Safaricom has also been partnering with device manufacturers to offer affordable smart devices to enable customers enjoy faster internet speeds wherever they are in the country.
