Shine Kenya National Promo Frequently Asked Questions

This is a Safaricom Promotion aimed at appreciating our customers for their continued support and loyalty. Eligible customers shall win various prizes ranging from Free Minutes, SMS, Data, M-PESA Cash back or 30 Weekly Millionaires and one lucky winner in the grand draw will walk away with Ksh 5Million. The winners will be drawn randomly from every part of Kenya!

In addition, the 30 lucky winners will each get 250K as a community prize and the Grand draw winner will get 1M as community prize. These community prizes will be used to deliver community projects in collaboration with Safaricom Foundation and will not go directly to the winners.

The Campaign is open to all new and existing Safaricom subscribers who are aged eighteen (18) years and above. Your line needs to be active to participate in the promotion.

The Campaign will not be open to:

All Safaricom employees, All Safaricom Dealers and their employees, Safaricom Suppliers, and family members of any of these mentioned categories.

All underage (below 18 years) subscribers, any subscriber within demarcated prison sites and Expired, Inactive and pooled numbers are not eligible to play in the Promotion unless they are reactivated by topping up and buying a bundle.

To participate you can either; -

• Purchase a Minutes, Data OR SMS bundle for Kshs. 20/= and above by dialling *444#, *544#, *334# or through MySafaricom App, M-Pesa App and www.safaricom.com/bundles via airtime, M-PESA or Okoa Jahazi airtime.
• Individual postpay customers, Buying a bundle from credit limit from KSh 20 and above
• Making a single chargeable M-PESA transaction of Kshs. 200/= and above either through send money, Lipa na M-PESA (PayBill, Buy Goods, Pochi la Biashara); or
• Perform any transaction on M-PESA Global Pay worth Ksh 1500 or above to participate in the Olympics promotion via M-Pesa App.
• Subscribe to Home Fiber or Renew your Home Fiber subscription.

The below transactions will NOT qualify:-

• Purchase of airtime either via Scratch card or M-Pesa and using that airtime to makes calls, using data or sending SMS without buying a bundle.
• Using credit limit to make makes calls, using data or sending SMS without buying a bundle.
• Paying the individual postpay bill will not qualify.
• Cash withdrawals from M-PESA.
• M-Pesa to Bank Paybill transactions via USSD or Sim toolkit or MySafaricom app or M-PESA app are ineligible for awarding entries.

These are valuable integrated offers where customer will enjoy a combination of Data, Voice, SMS with an addition of either Skiza, Base Video or Education content Bundle (Kalamu) that will also earn one entries into the Shine Kenya Promotion.

All Free Content will be valid till midnight.

The free pass for Education and Video content will be valid for the day and is a one-off Subscription. The Skiza tune however one will be required to dial *811# and select a FREE Skiza tune of their choice which will be on autorenewal at Ksh 1.5

For every eligible transaction (Refer to FAQ no. 3), a customer will earn an 1 entry into the daily, weekly and Grand draw. The more entries the subscriber has, the more they stand a chance to win.

No. The entries are only for the purpose of the Shine Kenya promotion. All entries shall expire at the end of the Promotion period once the grand draw is finalized.

Yes. However, Customers who have blocked Safaricom Promotional messages will not receive the Shine Kenya entries notifications unless they enable Safaricom notifications.

The customer who makes the purchase (Party A) will earn the Shine Kenya entries.

To Opt out dial *544#, *444#, *334# ,*555# or via MySafaricomApp and select Opt out of the Shine Kenya Promotion.

Any subscriber who opts out of the promotion will not be eligible to win any of the prizes unless the opt back in.

Yes. You will continue from where you left of.

• The weekly prize winners and the grand prize winner will also win community awards which will be implemented in conjunction with Safaricom Foundation as follows:

i. Each of the 1M winners will also get the opportunity to suggest a community project to the tune of Kshs. 250,000/=.

ii. The 5M grand draw prize winner will also recommend a community project to the tune of Kshs. 1,000,000/=.

• GSM Prizes: Every Safaricom customer (no matter where they come from) who spends KSh 20 or above to buy a bundle has an equal chance to win Voice, Data or SMS bundles.
• M-Pesa Prizes Every Safaricom customer who spends KSh 200 or above on M-Pesa has an equal chance to win M-Pesa cash back.
• 1M Cash prize: Every Safaricom customer who spends KSh 20 or above to buy a bundle or KSh 200 or above on M-Pesa will have an equal chance to win, no matter where they come from, the 1M eekly cash prize.
• 5M Cash prize: Every Safaricom customer, no matter where they come from, who spends KSh 20 or above to buy a bundle or KSh 200 or above on M-Pesa will have an equal chance to win the 5M rand cash prize.
• Olympic Trip prize: Every Safaricom customer who spends KSh 1500 or above on M-Pesa Global Pay is eligible to win a trip to Paris France for the 2024 Olympics.
• An individual customer cannot win both the 1M and Olympics trip.
• A customer who wins a 1M prize or the Olympics trip will not be eligible to win the 5M grand prize.

No. The winnings cannot be transferred to another subscriber.

No. You can only use the resources for Local calls and SMS’s.

The Winnings will have different Validities depending on what one has won, e.g Hourly or Midnight

The Promotion will run for eight (8) weeks from June 7th 2024, to August 3rd 2024 and will be conducted nationwide.
