Florence Nyokabi
Chief Human Resources Officer
Florence Nyokabi is an accomplished HR Leader with over 25 years progressive experience leading HR in local and global entities spanning multiple countries across Africa.
She joined Safaricom PLC from Standard Chartered Bank, where she was the Managing Director, Human Resources for Nigeria and West Africa covering 6 countries. In this role she lent her strong commercial acumen to deliver sound business and people outcomes. Her progressive approach to the people agenda led to a differentiated talent proposition and improved employee experience. Her focus on upskilling and reskilling employees ensured the Bank was equipped with the future skills needed to drive its ambitious aspirations.
Prior to West Africa, Nyokabi led the Human Resources organisation for Standard Chartered Bank in Kenya and East Africa.
Nyokabi began her career at Kenya Television Network (KTN), then moved to the NCBA Group for 9 years, where she grew to become Senior HR Manager for East Africa. In 2007 she joined KPMG and soon became the Director of HR and Administration, Kenya and Eastern Africa. Nyokabi is credited with realigning the organisation culture at KPMG to drive a high performance and people-centric work environment.
She holds an MBA in Human Resources, and a BCom in Marketing, both from the University of Nairobi. She is a Certified Executive Coach in Brain-Based Coaching, a Certified HR Professional (C-HRP) with the Institute of HR Management Kenya and has participated in Executive Leadership Programs at Oxford University UK and Duke University among others.
She is a recognised thought leader and has shared insights at various leadership forums. She was selected as a Top 40 Under 40 Leader in Kenya, and more recently as HR Personality of the Year in Africa.
