The Companies (Beneficial Ownership Information) (Amendment) Regulations, 2023 and The Proceeds of Crime and Anti-Money Laundering Regulations, 2023, require all financial institutions to collect, verify and maintain an up-to-date beneficial ownership information for all its business relationships. 

On 17 October 2024, the Business Registration Service through Public Notice No.01 of 2024 issued the directive requiring all registered entities to submit their beneficial ownership information failure to which, regulatory sanctions will be imposed including company deregistration and financial penalties.
