1. What is SKIZA tunes?
This is a new service from Safaricom that allows you to entertain your callers with your or their favorite song instead of “Ring Ring” while they wait for you to answer your phone. The service is available to ALL Safaricom subscribers
2. How do I set my SKIZA tunes?
You can set your Skiza tunes through three methods
a) SMS the SkizaCode of your selected song in the following format to 811, SKIZA SkizaCode (a seven-digit code) e.g. SKIZA 7010011
b) Dial 811 and follow the interactive voice prompts to set your Skiza tune
c) Visit the Skiza website at www.skiza.safaricom.com and select your songs
You can set up to 10 Skiza Tunes and assign them to different callers. If you have purchased more than one tune and have NOT assigned them to specific callers they will be played randomly
3. How much does it cost?
You will be charged Ksh. 5 for 7 days for each Skiza Tune your set.
You are charged When you dial 811 to access the interactive voice response (IVR) system you will be charged Ksh 3 per minute. Per second billing applies. In addition ALL SMS to 811 will cost Ksh 1 per SMS
At the expiry of 30 days your Skiza tune will automatically be renewed unless you choose to cancel it as per step 5 below. Safaricom will send notification of renewal 2 days before expiry of the tune
4. What songs are available on Skiza tunes
We have a wide selection of music covering nearly all genres including Kenyan, African, International, Gospel, Bollywood, etc. In addition you can get jokes, movie lines, famous quotes and more!
You can also get top-10 songs and the latest songs at any time when you dial 811 and follow the prompts
5. Canceling or suspending your Skiza tunes
You can cancel your Skiza tune at anytime by sending an SMS in the following format to 811 i.e. “Delete SkizaCode” e.g. DELETE 7010011.
You can temporarily suspend your Skiza tunes. Simply send the word “HOLD” to 811. When you do this your callers will not be able to hear your SKIZA tunes. To reactivate, just send “PLAY” to 811.

a) What handsets are compatible with SKIZA tunes?
All handset types and models are compatible with this service
b) How can I check the songs I am subscribed to?
To check all SKIZA tunes currently stored in your library simply send GET to 811 to confirm key word) or dial 811 and follow the voice prompts.
c) Why can’t my friends hear the SKIZA tunes I have set?
There are two main reasons for this:-
a. Your tune has expired and was not auto renewed. Simply dial 811 to download it again or send an SMS in the following format to 811. “SKIZA SkizaCode” e.g. SKIZA 7010011
b. You have suspended your SKIZA TUNES as per step 5 above. To reactivate, just send “PLAY” to 811
d) How can I set another tune as my default tune?
Simply send an SMS in the following format to 811 “Set SkizaCode” e.g. SET 7010011
Express Copy: When you call someone and like the Skiza Tune playing on their phone, you can copy that Skiza Tune from your friend by dialing 11 before your friend picks up the call. Your friends Skiza Tune is automatically copied onto your profile as one of your Skiza Tune
e) Can I present/gift a SKIZA tune to my friends and family?
You can gift your family and friends a Skiza tune. You will be charged for each tune you gift but the recipient will pay for subsequent renewals.
To gift send an SMS in the following format to 811 “Gift SkizaCode phone number” e.g. GIFT 7010011 722003030 (Remember to omit the zero in the phone number)
f) Can I record my own song and set it as a Skiza tune?
You can record your own song as set it as Skiza tune by following the steps below: a) Dial 811 and select the option of Do-It-Yourself. Follow the prompts to record
b) You will be notified of successful upload
c) Safaricom Skiza tunes administrator will listen and approved your song within 1-3 days
d) If approved the normal charge will be deducted from your account
e) If the purchase process is successful, the do-it-yourself tune is set as the default Skiza tune and you will be notified via SMS
g) Will this be available to roaming subscribers?
SKIZA tunes will NOT be available to roaming subscribers, both for prepaid and postpaid. |
